Higgins Art Gallery Presents a Virtual Exhibit: Alejandra Cuadra Sanchez Longing For Belonging
Special Webinar event with Artist in Residence Alejandra Cuadra Sanchez. After presenting her work, Cuadra will invite guests to share their notion of belonging.

Please note that the exhibit, Alejandra Cuadra Sanchez - Longing For Belonging will be on view at Higgins Art Gallery from September 6 until October 28, 2022.

Cuadra’s exhibition Longing For Belonging contemplates the process of creating a sense of belonging and a place to call home. Embracing clay, wood, mixed media, and sensibility she weaves, braids, and knots together her history—what was, what is, and what is to come. Feeling neither from here nor there, Cuadra re-connects to her roots in Peru, while acknowledging her duality she seeks to find home beyond the barriers to belonging.

During the month of October, Cuadra will be the Artist in Residency at Higgins Art Gallery. Through this time she will create a gathering space where people can explore their own creativity, identity, and sense of community.

You can participate by contacting the artist at alejandra.j.cuadra@gmail.com

An interdisciplinary maker living and working in the Northeast, Cuadra holds a BFA in Sculpture and a Minor in Public Engagement from Maine College of Art. Being transplanted from her homeland of Peru, she can never forget where she came from and works to reclaim her sense of belonging within the United States.

Alejandra Cuadra Sanchez is a proud Latina, citizen of the world and most of all a human being. Through creativity, communication, collaboration, and community, she discovers the connectivity, empathy, and hope that can transcend barriers.
